COERR Mae Sot supported Youth Volunteer Groups in three Temporary Shelters in Tak Province: Ban Mae La in Tha Song Yang District, Ban Umpiem in Phop Phra District and Ban Nupo in Umphang District, to pay Home Visit and Guide Younger Children to take care of themselves against COVID-19.
During the home visit, youth also taught children to reflect their learning about COVID-19 prevention into painting under the theme “Staying Safe during COVID-19” and submitted them to COERR for competition and campaign about good hygiene such as washing hands, taking bath, wearing mask and social distancing, to prevent spreading of virus that may cause the disease.
On September 5, 2020, at Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter, 56 children and youth of 43 female and 13 male, participated in the painting competition activity. 30 paintings comprising of 10 from Zone A, 10 from Zone B and 10 from Zone C were on display and awarded; while in Ban Umpiem and Ban Nupo Temporary Shelter prizes were awarded to 20 selected paintings at each Shelter.
The success of the program was to have youth showing volunteering spirit in visiting and guiding the younger. At the same time, the younger spent their leisure on learning about COVID -19 prevention, and transferred their knowledge through art and paintings.
Moreover, the program also strengthened the relationship between youth and children in these three temporary shelters, i.e., Ban Mae La, Ban Umpiem and Ban Nupo, of Tak Province.
